Time to let Ginger Pele go
I do love Ginge, he does his best and that is all we ask for.

Most fans call him so overrated but I am just going to point out how many points he costs us ...

Swansea (A) 2012 3-0 scuffing the ball allowing Swansea to go 2-0 up.

Reading (A) 2012 1-0 Passing the ball back to goal but going straight to their striker allow Pogbergriak to score.

Tottenham (H) Last season, two silly yellow cards getting himself sent off which cost us

Man City (A) Last season, ridiculous own goal.

Astra (H) This season, Silly sending off, costing us the whole tie.

He makes far too many errors. Despite how solid he can be.

My order of Centre Backs is:

1.Winston Reid
2.James Tomkins
3.Angelo Ogbonna
4.James Collins
5.Oxford/Burke/Henry

We've got way for one of the youngsters to progress most likely Oxford. Collins is getting on a bit now also.

Who disagrees and why? Because people forget how many times Collins' costs us a

I forgot to mention DOBSON the lad that we took offof Arsenal.

But as for the Role that COLLINS takes up at the club,
He is without date a skilled attacker with the ball as well as being our only swashbuckling central defender at the club.

Did us favour ref Astra. Really think we are ready for that mickey mouse Euro competion with our current squad and injuries? Having a laugh.

Re: Time to let Ginger Pele go
All of our central defenders offer different styles.
I personally would like to see us loan out for developmental purposes the younger and less experienced ones such as ONARIASE ,OXFORD,BURKE,HENRY and PASK.

Re: Time to let Ginger Pele go
I reckon we ought to keep Ginge for this season. We have four genuine centre backs and as experience shows we have some times been short due to injuries and suspensions. Gives the likes of Burke a further season to mature as well.

Re: Time to let Ginger Pele go
Maybe he wants go so he can play more first team football?

In any case I've noticed he's always looked a bit pony after he's first couple of games in the starting line-up and then he gets into the groove so it's probably harsh to criticize him him at this point in the season.

He is slow though I will admit.

But I suppose that we do need 4 centre backs

Jimmy Collins was superb last season. I want him to stay.

Re: Time to let Ginger Pele go
I'm sure he will prove useful for a championship team that wants promotion.

I don't dislike him but he is off the pace these days...at times his positioning and anticipation skills takes me back to the grim old days of Repka/Dailly

Re: Time to let Ginger Pele go
No sense in getting shot of him. He's not in high wages, we wouldn't get much for him and he we need the cover. He's a pretty darn good 4th choice

Norflundon 6:40 Wed Aug 19
Re: Time to let Ginger Pele go
I'd keep him as you never know how ogbonna will cope in his first season

Re: Time to let Ginger Pele go
The last two seasons have shown that you should carry 4 experienced central defenders.

Blagg is right, by the time Collins' contract is up, one of Burke/Henry/Oxford should have enough experience to be considered as players who be relied on to do the job week in week out, then he can leave with much less chance of us being left short in the position. I don't feel any of those three are ready for a prolonged run in the side if needed just yet.

More than a couple of times he was MoM and rightly so

Re: Time to let Ginger Pele go
I'd keep him for this season at least by which time one of the youngsters should be pushing for one of the spots. Pity he went before though. I think he would have saved us a relegation.

He really isn't

We should not of let him go before, and we definitely need to keep him now.

Well I read the thread before I saw the story, so worth at least pointing out that it's possibly a real thing.

He's made a few mistakes but he's also had some absolutely heroic games for us.

Re: Time to let Ginger Pele go
I don't see it mentioned on this thread, so worth mentioning that the Mirror today says that we're looking to offload him.
